TRUDY'S WINTER PARADISE

I have been telling Glen for years I want a  glass greenhouse, made from recycled windows and odd bits and pieces of wood.   I have collected many pictures and drawn plans over the years, but he never got the gist of what I envisioned
                                                              (or needed, wanted)

                                                                   until.....

my sister Trudy built her glass house complete with a wood burning stove to keep everything (plants and people) warm and toasty in the minus zero weather.  Late at night after her kids are all tucked in,  she and her husband go out to the glass house and build a fire to heat it through the night.  The heat absorbed from the sun during the day keeps it warm well after dark until the fire is built.

Over the holidays, one evening we were invited for tea.  She gathered flowers and herbs growing in the glass house, she  cold steeped them overnight and added cinnamon sticks and ginger.  We sat in the glass house cozy and warm.  Soft, flickering, candle light and  dancing flames from the fire dimly lit the leaves and our faces.  We talked til midnight, breathing the warm moist air, smelling  the earthy fragrance, and sipping flower tea.  It was Paradise!

a beautiful glass house tucked away in a hidden corner
 out of sight
filled with
plants
and
bubbly fountains
with
goldfish swimming
and
tiny castles
hidden amoung the flower pots
 for the
dancing faeries.

BEAUTIFUL SNOW

I think winter is beautiful
fluffy
snow
heavy laden
on
bended boughs

standing silent
and
steadfast
waiting for
spring

Today
I am at the farm
I haven't any water,
the water pipes
are frozen
in the pump house.
I dig out
the bottles of water
I have stored away.

I build a warm
fire
and crawl into bed.
I awake
during the night
it is -15 degrees below zero.
I throw another log
on the fire,
snuggle deeper under the covers
and
 DREAM OF SPRING

Farm Animals

During the winter months I spend many hours sitting on a hard bleacher bench watching my kid's
basketball games.

Recently, during a three day tournament I asked Stockton and Porter (their big brother is on the team) if they would draw me some farm animals. Every game they bring their markers, colored pencils and paper to draw. I think they are amazing little artists! The pictures were so good I asked their mom if I could post them.

DID YA HEAR?

"HEY, did you hear the latest?"

"What else should we expect, someone who know's how,  like that's
goin to happen.  NOT around here!"

"I heard she doesn't have a clue."

" And to think she had us all fooled."

Here I am, lost out in cyber space
without a clue
I can't get NEW
pictures to load
so until I figure
things out.........which
is highly unlikely to happen
in the near future
you'll just have
to put up with
old
pictures
and
new words
of
little value
after all a picture is worth a thousand words...........

A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Have you made your New Year's Resolutions? Or are you like the 65 % of the country who don't?  I have thought a lot about this during the past week.  Some years I make them, but most of the time I feel that if I can accomplish everything I NEED to do I am better off than adding a list of things I know I will never get done.

Listed below are the top three resolutions made by the majority of people every year

                                                       1.  LOSE WEIGHT
                                                        2. GET ORGANIZED
                                                        3. SAVE MONEY

Well, let me tell you what I think about the top 3..............I feel like number one and number two cancel themselves out.  If you are UNorganized and are spending your days (excuse the expression) " running around like a chicken with it's head cut off,  looking high and low,  turning over every stone,  searching far and wide",  surely that has got to burn excessive calories.  Not to mention the fact that stones are extremely heavy.  So.......if you are organized you  will NOT be burning all those  extra calories.
Number three--save money--  hummmmm.  Well, first off you need to have money floating around to save.  I have found the best way for me to save money is to hide it away and then I can't remember where I put it.  Works every time.
                                                                HOPE YOU ALL HAVE
                     A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
